This little garden gym shed idea has been brewing for a while now and with the New Year, it seems a great time to step forward with it. My DIY shed is now 2 or 3 years old and a tad under utilised. Sure it is okay as a place to store the lawnmower and garden tools but it has much more potential.
Becky and I succeeded in finding a new home for her old MTB bike, thus freeing up a little room in the shed. As an aside, we hope you have some fun on the bike Maggie, stay safe!
So far I have:
- swept it out, cleared a few cobwebs (sorry spiders)
- set my bike up on the turbo trainer (above photo)
- electricity is via a simple extension cable running from the garage. This is a bit Heath Robinson and ought to be done properly
- included a couple of weights and exercise mat
- had a couple of sessions out there 2×20 minutes
Still to do:
- dust off my old turntable, amplifier and try and find a handful of vinyl records in the loft. Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Tom Waits and so on (1980s vintage)
- turns out a few Facebook friends are responding to my appeal for some hifi speakers to beg/steal/borrow/buy
- organise some suitable refreshments to keep in the shed – large bottle of water (hope it doesn’t freeze), a supply of dates and a packet of Hobnobs
- see if there’s room for our cross trainer, currently at Grandmas’s house
- and most importantly, to get into a daily routine and having a gym session with a mixture of cardio, core strength, arm, leg strengthening and increasing my suppleness by stretching
Hi Doug, I’m looking to buy a turbo so searched your blog for a recommendation. Is that a Tacx smart flow (T2240) by any chance in the photo? Mary
Ah, just checked out your review on Tacx Blue Matic turbo trainer!
