The latest time for me being accused of being a bloody show off – again – was while I was taking the Halfbike for a spin.
Although I was only wizzing around our local neighbourhood for a bit of daily exercise, my Halfbike again attracted quite a bit of attention. I think it’s because it is such an unusual “bike”, well Halfbike. You certainly feel quite noticeable on it, you’re standing quite high up. It’s actually good fun!
So I got reminded of a couple of things:
Firstly, you have to balance differently on a Halfbike. It takes a little while to learn how to balance on this but – as with a conventional bicycle – you never forget. I am told keeping good balance is important as we age.
Secondly, I got quite a full-body workout. I don’t know why, on the surface, all you’re doing is holding on and turning your feet on the pedals. But there’s more to it. I felt as if I was getting a really good workout including my abs, shoulders and arms – quite tiring if you’re not used to it!
Anyway, back to me being called a bloody show off. This was just someone walking along the pavement, never seen him before, no idea who he was or why he was so grumpy with me. Perhaps he fancied a go himself? Perhaps he thought….. well how knows.
Finally, I was pleased with the above photo. No fancy equipment, just my iPhone 7.
